Hello fellow Fairfax Parents and Concerned Citizens,
Fairfax County desperately needs parent advocates who will stand up and join the effort to replace the school board In 2023. As our chapter grows, I hope you consider helping to recruit and advocate for school board member replacements.
FCPS School Board Updates:
Family Life Education Curriculum Advisory Committee (FLECAC)/Sex Ed. I presume most parents are unfamiliar with this group (at lease I was) so I did some research. The FLECAC was established in 2013 and has been slowly changing school policies under the guise of being inclusive since it started. While I admit I haven't studied the detailed changes yet, I plan to and I will share what I learn as I go.
The current 2022-2023 FLECAC Representatives are listed below and link to the committee is here.
There are no parent advocates on these lists, and I hope one of you will consider volunteering to fill the vacancies. I don't know the process, but am eager to help and learn with you.

The recent firing of the Loudoun County Superintendent was directly related to the policy of allowing boys in girls bathrooms, which is currently allowed in Fairfax County.
FCPS Policy 2022 Registration/Documentation: On November 14, 2022 School Board officially eliminated documentation requirements including the requirement for notarization and power of attorney for educational decision making. Changes are highlighted on the attached document. P2202.10 Admissions Residency and Attendance Changes Noted. I have been unable to find discussions or reasoning for this change, but I'm sure it's on Board Docs somewhere. The dangers of this change should be obvious.
FCPS December 1 School Board Meeting Summary:
The Fairfax Schools Monitor did a great job summarizing the community participation and FLE issues here. We had a lot of advocates speak up!! Lets keep that energy going.
Attached is the Academic Matters Presentation given by the Superintendent to discuss English Learner data. Based on the data provided English Learners are FAILING with SOLs pass rates of 31% and 37% for English and Math respectively. Yet if you watch the video of the meeting, the superintendent and school board members gushed about how great it was. Fortunatly for them, EL parents likely don't watch school board meetings or care.
Agenda Item 6.1 New Business Proposed New Policy 3290, Parental Notification Regarding Instructional Materials with Sexually Explicit Content. THE REVIEW/APPROVE DATE IS 12/15/22. This requires the school to provide 30 days notice if they are going to use instructional materials with sexually explicit content, and parents will have to opt out using a newly created form.
The next school board meeting is December 15th. The sign up isn't open yet, but please do consider registering to speak. We will be having our first annual Moms For Liberty Chapter meeting on December 14th. If you want to become an official member, please Register Here. and plan to join us in person.
